Úterý – Tuesday. This word has a slight connection to the number two (dva), since Tuesday is the second day of the workweek.

Středa – Wednesday. This one is tricky! But think of "Středa" as "Straight in the middle" – Wednesday is the midpoint of the week!

Days of the Week in Czech Culture
🔵 Modré pondělí – A day when people take a break after a fun-filled weekend. It is also part of Pašijový týden (Passion Week) before Easter when physical work was traditionally avoided.
🟡 Žluté úterý – Symbolizes Judas’s betrayal in Christian tradition.
😠 Škaredá středa – The day when Judas betrayed Christ. According to folklore, those who frown on this day will remain grumpy for the rest of the week.
⚫ Černý pátek – Traditionally considered a day of misfortune and financial crises, but today it is more commonly associated with big sales and discounts (Black Friday).
⚪ Bílá sobota – Part of Pašijový týden, a day of waiting for the Resurrection. The name comes from the tradition of wearing white garments during baptism.
🔴 Velký pátek – A significant religious holiday in the Czech Republic and an official public holiday.
